Is there a button or switch like there is on 360 to set it from SD to HD?

No unfortunately Sony made it kind of difficult to set up HD.
First turn your TV on to your composite or A/V channel that you would normally play on. Go to the video settings and select the HD output that your TV can handle (i.e. 720p, 1080i, etc). After you select the HD your TV will go black. This is normal, don't worry. You now have 30 seconds to change to your component cable or HDMI cable output channel on your TV and select "accept settings." Good luck!

Lucky. It took me at least a half hour to set it up because I had no idea what to do at first.
