PS3 Sixaxis controller on PC

About 10 mins ago I was like "hmm, and plugged my ps3 controller into a usb port on my pc". Running Vista, it says it automatically installed the correct drivers so I started pushing some buttons and got nothing. So I did a google search, and came up with these reoccuring instructions for ps3 contr. on pc.

http://news.filefront.com/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-on-a-pc/

Should I try to find whatever vista automatically installed or just start with the new instructions and it works or...?

It's not working, and I'm not sure what to do now. I don't exactly know what windows installed and if i need to reverse the other instructions somehow?

actually, you can use a sixaxis on a pc, you just need the files mentioned here

on a side note, my actual sixaxis doesn't seem to work (although apparently this isn't as common as it working) but my 3rd party madcatz controller (with the tilt sensitivity) does. also, the pc doesn't detect the tilt functionality, but if any programmers are feeling ambitious...

EDIT: yeah, the 1st party either blinks all 4 lights (like when it's "sleeping" on the PS3) or all the lights turn off completely, in either case, it's detected by my computer (in both the cmd prompt and game controllers under control panel) but none of the buttons respond. if any finds a solution to this, you know where to find...this post

EDIT2: sorry, but i'm still in the middle of playing around with this. anyway, i just found out that if i wait till the lights go off, pushign the PS button turns on my PS3 and i can use it as a regular PS3 controller...while it's being charged by the USB port on my PC. kinda random, but it might come in handy if you need to charge your controller but don't have any USB ports open on your PS3...or...i dunno, something more useful/likely to happen. so...um...yeah.

EDIT3: man, i wish i had clicked on your link before i posted all this, but that^ might be useful, right?
