PS3 to HDMI monitor not responding??

I recently hooked my PS3 through an HDMI to DVI wire to my Dell monitor listed in my sig. When i turn my PS3 on my monitor turns on which means its detecting something but its just not showing any picture? Any suggestions??
 
See if you have something else to display the PS3 output on from HDMI and/or another device to hook up the monitor to through DVI. Basically there are 3 possibilities: the cord/adapter is faulty, the port on the monitor is bad, or the port on the PS3 is bad.
 
there is also the possibility that the setting is not right on the ps3. try connecting it to your tv via scart first. if it works, then the setting is on scart connection. if it doesnt, then its on HDMI setting. best thing is to turn the console on, (when its connected via scart) and hold the power button for 5 seconds. this resets the settings to their basic factory settings.
when you have done this, power it off, connect it via HDMI to your monitor, and you should get a message saying that a new HDMI connection has been deteccted, and would you like to upgrade to this setting? say yes and it should work.
 
restart the PS3.
Hold down the button until you hear it beep and it should restart itself and stuff should appear onscreen :)
