PS3 vs PC

will the PS3 be a better overall games computer than a modern PC ?, what do you guys think ?.
 
I think that PC has the best graphics and games, if the PS3 is better, it will only be better for a short time since PC upgrades come so often.
 
The PS3 GPU is already known to be weaker then the xbox 360's, so we already know that pc video cards are better than the 360's. That means that the ps3 and 360 are already worse in terms of graphics. I have a x850xt and a xbox 360 and i can personally say that the 360 looks like medium graphics in quake 4.

I agree. xbox360 cant compare to a x850 so imagin 7800gtx 512mb oc. I think 7800gtx is the highest quilty out there even if ps3 comes out 7800gtx cards will still over rule the console until the next pc series comes out..
 
we already know the ps3 is weaker than xbox 360? are you kidding me? not to spark debate, but the question is: would sony doom themselves by releasing ps3 later than xbox360, AND have it be weaker? easy answer: no chance in hell. i dont know where ps3 being weaker than 360 comes from... but i agree with geoff's answer.

Man, you dont see straight. I said "The PS3 GPU is already known to be weaker then the xbox 360's" you know what a GPU is right? Im not debating over whose performance overall is better (which is PS3's) im just saying the facts...XBOX 360's GPU is stronger than PS3's...and we are debating about Graphics, not system performance.

Come on all these new games consoles are is an over glamourized computer now days! sure the games console might slip ahead with blu ray they are pretty wll advanced but they only count as an accessory

i didnt see the gpu. i still say, those arent facts until the system is out, however. that IS a fact. chill out. even still, more pipelines doesnt meant stronger... more mhz doesnt mean faster... intel vs amd is the analogy here... raw power vs efficiency

PS3's specs are already out....get with it. PS3 is not going to change their whole hardware set-up because of xbox 360, they probably wont change a single thing in the system...seeing as it has gone through years of testing. The PS3's specs will remain the same even at the launch date.
 
well dont be such a fanboy and get your panties in a knot man... all im saying is you cant say it's one thing until it is a fact and somebody has their hands on it. how can you be so sure that sony isnt giving the explicit details just to throw off competition or speculation?

edit: figured id throw this in, panties in a knot is an expression where im from for getting flustered, im not insinuating anything so dont take that the wrong way :)

Well I suppose it is fare that you compare the PS3 against the PC on a gaming level but If you ask me the PC wins hands down. You can do so much more on a PC then you can on a console. Sure consoles are great if all you do is play games but I believe the PC is superior for online gaming still. Even if the PS3 where more powerful then the PC when It first arrives (I don't keep up on console specs) it would not last long. Yes the console would be a great gaming machine at a much lower price but like I said, the PC is so much more then a gaming machine. Compare a PC to the PS3 if you will but remember all the PS3 and Xbox are really good for is gaming even if they can do more then that.

A fanboy of what? PC? I own a xbox360 mainly for xbox live because i think it is much more interactive and fun than pc games online. I dont know where your comming from with your info..but it doesnt seem like you know much of what your talking about. O...and dont take it the wrong way ;)
 
Im gonna sound like such an idiot saying this but am i the only one who thinks the PS3 controler looks kinda wierd. Yeah yeah i know i cant judge by that but just looking at the box that is what i see.

I cant quite say which i think is better because i dont have enough experience with the PS3(yet ;)). By looking at the specs id say if you have the money deffinately go PC but if cash is tight go PS3. Once again this is just my opinion.

I dont know about you, but weve been making fun of the PS3 controller for quite some time. "At least with the PS3 when you realize how crap the system is and throw the controller away...it'll come right back" (said by a Xbox 360 forumer) But, I do agree that the controller looks very uncomfortable.
 
i havent stated any info... ??? i read all the stats when they were released back in the summer in game informer, and ive kept up with it for the most part... where am i misinformed? all im saying is you cant judge something before it's release. in any case, pc will always be better than any console, just with a lack for the variety of games; however, that seems to be changing as well, as game developers realise the market is there for high end games as all the new technology sparks the interest of many people to make high end pc's, moreso than 5 years ago. but, just to reiterate, saying what the ps3 will or will not be is a lack of understanding about the market for consoles....

I think you have a misinterpretation of marketing. Here is what your saying, you are saying that PS3 current specs can be better when it is finally released. If that is the case why would Sony being so smart create less hype about the release of super console that is evidently going to be stronger than xbox 360? If Sony's specs were going to change they obviously would not be for the better with such short notice, if they did decide to do so they would inform the public so that more fanboys can research the new hardware being installed. Now, this marketing scheme would make sense to me...I dont see the logic in making less hype for a system before its launched...that would result in less sales, and then creating more hype after its release would just be a horrible marketing desicion.
 
well, so they will be set in stone once the specs are released a YEAR before the debut, which may or may not even be as early as april... looking back at sony's previous launch dates being pushed further and further away, it wouldnt be a big surprise if it were postponed another 6 months. if the ps3 get's a boost here or there, it would make sense. they released the initial specs prior to the xbox 360, though it has changed and evolved since then, and i wouldnt be surprised if they learn from the 360 what can go wrong and what can infuriate the consumers. i have yet to read anything that states sony's proclamation of "these are the final specifications"
