PSU and mobo compatability

First post and nOOb extreme. Looking at building a new PC with the new AM2. All the mobo's say they are a power pin 24. My question is will a PSU that is 20+4 be compatible? Would a PSU that is a 24 be better? Give me the info. please. Thanks.

a 20+4 pin powersupply is the same thing as the 24 pin its just that the 20+4 has 4 detachable pins so it can fit on a 20 pin motherboard.
