Okay, I just bought a power supply because my video card needed it. Now, I got some recommendations on what PSU to buy and I got this one because it had 400 watts and was supposed to be good enough...

So, after buying buying a 20 - 24 pin converter for it because it wasn't compatable because of the 20 pin PSU did not match the 24 pin mobo, I go to hook it up, and guess what happens, no power.

In a way it was receiving some power because a light on the motherboard came on. The button on the front of the computer that turns it on also has a light and it comes on when I push it, but the rest of the computer does not come on.

Also, I noticed that it had some more connecters than my other one. The new PSU has TWO plug-ins that had 4 pins on each with different color wires. The first four pin connecter has two yellow and two black while the other four pin has red, black, orange, and yellow. I've tried switching out both but nothing seems to work.

After the new PSU wouldn't work, I tried my old and it started up just fine.

If this helps any, this is my comp- Gateway 831GM

Oh man, I just practically ******* myself!!! I have two surge protectors hooked up to a wall outlet. Now, I plugged the new PSU power cord into the sure protector which has about 8 other things plugged into it! So, I plugged the PSU into the other one which just had the refrierator in it and it actually booted up!! Thank god I don't have to send it back.
