PSU on bottom/top?

I chose two possible cases for my computer

Xigmatek Asgard all black (PSU at the top)

ThermalTake V3 (PSU at the bottom)

Will I have any complications installing the PSU at the bottom? Does it matter at all? What are your experiences?

This will be the first time I will be building my machine on my own, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

It just depends on the PSU I think. The CPU power and 24 pin ATX power will be farther away from the connector at the bottom, but the PCIe power will be closer. If you have a supply with pretty generous cables, then you will not see a big difference.

Personally, I like the bottom mounting design. That is just personal preference though.

Just to add to what wolfeking already mentioned, The Bottom mounted PSU will also take in air from underneath the case. It wil help keep it cooler because it will basically have its own heat chamber.

Just like Wolfeking said, if you do go for bottom mounted just make sure your cables are long enough. I tried using a PSU out of a Gateway system and the one power cable was to short. They sell extenders if that's the case.

I like having the PSU in the bottom because that's a lot of the weight in the case. It's good to have the weight on the bottom rather than on the top so you don't accidentally tip it over because it's top heavy.

That's a really bad reason to decide between the two but I actually brought that into consideration when choosing a case. Also it seems a bit easier to hide cables coming out of your PSU in the bottom of the case rather than having them hanging from the top.

+1 to it being cooler on the bottom.
