PSU problem? hard drive problem? motherboard problem?

My pc always restart. Most time it just gets to Window XP... screen, then monitor display no signal and restart again. it is very seldom to start sucessfully, even sucessful, it will restart shortly.
Can someone tell me how to test it and to lock the exact problem? Thanks.
 
I think you must be overheating. I had this problem when I didn't have my heatsync installed. If you have a good motherboard it will shut off as soon as the proccessor begins to overheat.
 
^ Could be but I am doubtful. If it overheated it would shutoff sometime or another, it wouldnt keep on restarting .If he let it restart for a long time his mobo/cpu would have fried already.

I am suggesting RAM. Get another stick in and remove the current stick or get memtest86 from microsoft and scan one stick at a time.
 
It sounds far more like a supply or board problem where you are seeing power drop off. The usual largest demand for power is when first starting a system up ruling out overheating there. A bad cap on the board or failing chipset, And even more unexpected for a board in use for a year or more is the $2-$3 Lithium battery on it. When those get weak you start seeing the loss of cmos information and eventually when dead the system won't turn on. You have a few things to look at there.
 
I found the fan of the PSU did not work. can it cause computer keep restarting? my psu model is DR-B300ATX. It seems difficult to buy it.
 
Yes! Then you were correct PC Eye, it is the power supply. Your power supply is overheating. Is this an custom computer? If it is then any standard ATX power supply will do.
 
A fan not working will cook things fast. If the supply was rather new and under warranty. There the manufacturer would replace the fan for shipping costs only. But a 300w supply is very much outdated is this is on an old build and still uses a 20pin main power connector. Time to go for something worth bothering with and can be used in a new build later if needed. You can find a good make and model supply from 400w and up depending on the price range for a replacement.
