PSU problem maybe?

I've got an HP PSU, which says it runs at Max Output: 300W (which i know is very low anyways, with it anyway probably dosnt give out that anyway.)

Here are my specs..
Cpu: Intel i5 650 3.2GHz
Ram: 4GB DDR3
HDD: Barracuda 1TB
GPU: Ati Radeon HD 5450

In a few months i will be getting a GPU something like, GTX460 1GB
Which means I'd need a new PSU for sure. (Could you recommend me a PSU?)

But would the PSU i have atm be okay untill i get the new GPU and PSU ?

Thanks :)

Yes, 50 quid should buy you a decent quality PSU, get a reputable brand from eBuyer/scan/novatech/overclockers

For a mid-range single GPU... It depends, (nVidia cards usually run hungrier, but the new GTX460 is pretty awesome), about 600W should do you fine

I would go for a bit higher wattage.

Fine, but 750W Max. People so often overestimate the wattage needed for their system. He could run that rig fine on a good quality 450W PSU. It's not the rated peak wattage that counts, its the actual output of the unit. e.g. an antec 400W PSU will output near 400W, whereas a super duper sparkle cooler ultra amazing 3000 six-hunded watt PSU will only output at most far less than the lower rated good-quality PSU.

700W. To be futureproof.

true but I would much rather have an overkill psu for your system rather than having it blow out because it was used too close to the maximum output. You are right a good quality psu will put out a lot closer to what it is rated at but I still wouldn't want to push it. I think 600w is enough for now and upgrades and overclocking down the road.

It has nothing to do with wattage, rather amperage on the 12V rail that is important. I think that PSU isn't great with only 44A on the 12V rail for what is a 700W PSU, quite crap actually. Plus with an 80mm fan it will be loud.

All the reviews say it has been good for them and it is quite

My point was that for a 700W PSU, 44A on the 12V rail is shit. Plus the smaller the fan, the louder it will be. 80mm is small. My Corsair 750W has a 140mm fan.
