PSU Requirements for my computer?

Hey, alright so my current PSU is just a mere 250W.The whole computer is exactly the same as when I bought it, except I'ved added 2gig of ram.

I'm upgrading my current GPU to a Nvidia GTS 250/260 and so I also have to upgrade my PSU so it will run it. How big of a PSU should I put in and which one? Will it completely blow my system if I put in something like a 750W or will it be fine?

And I also need to add a fan because I have some serious heat issues. My current chassis is a Hawaii Chassis. Can you just give me some advice or help please?

No, a big Power Supply will not blow your computer up. 750W for a GTS 250 is alittle overkill. A good quality 500/600W will run it just fine and give you alittle overhead. Stick with a Corsair/PC Power & Cooling/Silverstone/OCZ. For a GTX 260 stay in the 600W range.

Haha yeah i just 750W for example. I always though putting in something way bigger will damage your system.

From what I belive the GTS 260 is better than the 250, so I'll most likely be getting that one. So you say a 600w? Can you give me links or names of the models you think I should be looking at please. Its my first time doing a big upgrade like this. Thanks for you help.

WHere will you be buying parts from?

There aren't any major computer suppliers in South Africa. But there is a shop (Incredible Connection) which will order specfic parts for you. Whhat PSU do you suggest I go for? And the GTS 250 or 260?

If you can, a corsair TX650. But other good options would be an OCZ GameXStream or ModXStream(Modular=ModXstream) 600W, or a thermaltake purepower/toughpower 600W. PCPower&Cooling Silencer 610W is also another good power supply for a rig like that..

Wow thanks. I'm looking into those and what will work and fit my requirements.

I'm rather new on this but, with my current 250W, will I be able to put another fan in?

On the rig in your sig? I doubt a 4W fan would hurt.. Just as long as you dont try to run a gts 250 on it:P
