I currently have a no-name brand psu running my rig in my sig.

But i want to upgrade my 5200+ to the 7750, but i am fearful that it will fry the poor little psu, it has a rating of 420 and 14 amps on each rail.

The 7750 is about 20 extra watts more in power draw, so im not sure if it can handle that much of an increase?

So i have been looking for come under 50$ psu's, and have found this.

i was a little worried that this may not be able to handle it in all, but as i look in the reviews, i see people with 720 BE overclocked, and a 4850, with multiple HDD's running, and my computer isnt very near the power draw of those. so i think i might go with this one. Any advice, i have heard that corsair is a good brand of psu's so any imput?

MX,

I'd give advice if I felt I was in a position to give good advice to ya - but I"m still a greenhorn myself. Just finished my first build today. But can I ask you a question?

How'd ya get your PC profile in your signature. I was in my profile page and didn't see any place to add the info.

You should be fine, I would try to spend alittle more and get around a good quality 500W one for alittle overhead.

In User CP. On the left ( Edit Signature)

Yah, i think ill go with this corsair 400watt unit.

I mean, it can handle my computer no problem, and would do fine even if i added a bigger G card in there i bet. I dont think ill be doing much upgrading for a while. :)

thx for your imput :)

...I am thinking about replacing my old no-name brand 600w 12@24amp to this one.

massive jump, i have one. Put it this way, the corsair 520W has 54A on the 12 V rail (80W less but twice the amperage) compared to your no name brand that has 24A (probably less without EPS cert)... I would recommend 26A as a minimum standard for all modern computers.

You should be fine,...

I disagree. 14a is probably on 2 x 7A rails right? Well, the 46XX card uses at max over 6A, meaning under ATX design standards you have less that 1A for the rest of the system bar the CPU as that consumes the entire 7A from 12V+1 under that same standard. 14A is insufficient for that system regardless. Really mate, the next money should be on a PSU and the 650W is the sweet price point for corsair's at the moment...

the point is clear. you get what you pay for = scrimp on your psu at the peril of your other gear.

No, its 2 12v rails at 14 amps.

The only reason that i just used the psu that came with the case is because there was really no need to buy one at the time, all i had was an 8400GS, and a stock 5200+, now that i am getting more into games, i know i have to upgrade now, so thats why im looking into a new power supply.

StrangleHold- yah i figured you were talking about the corsair.

So should i go a little higher to something like a 500watt?
