PSU upgrade to support new GPU

Hi,

I own an Acer Aspire 6920G notebook:

Intel T5750 2.0 Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia GeForce 9500M GS 512MB (OCed from 475Mhz to 575Mhz)

And it has proven to be less than sufficient to run Starcraft II at minimum settings. Which I find very very strange... I'd be running at 15 frames with around 400 total units on the map, which in a 4v4 game is about 10 to 15 minutes in... That being said, I've given up on the idea of running SCII on my laptop. I'm looking to get a brand new Desktop.

Currently I've got my eyes on another Acer Aspire system that has:

AMD Athlon II X4 620
4GB DDR3 RAM
Integrated Graphics HD3200

I'm planning to add a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 to top it off.

Now here's my question. The X4 620 power consumption peaks at 170w, and the HD 5770 can peak at 284w. Simple addition would dictate that the OEM 300w power supply will definitely not support the hardware. I know for sure I need an upgrade, but I have no knowledge on PSU's. So can anyone please give me some pointers on what to look for, or just simply tell me which one to get! (That would be best XD)

Pretty sure the 620 is a 95W cpu, dude. But yeah, that PSU definitely will not hold a 5770. If you're that comfortable dropping a total of ~$800 and changing out components, you might as well build your own system. $700 plus $100 for the OS would make for a pretty good computer, with better performance and much higher build quality than the crap you'd get with that Acer. Better warranty and CS, too. Acers are cheap for a reason.

I know, 620 doesn't constantly run at 170w, this is just a benched peak, that the CPU can consume up to 170w when pushed to the limit.

The reason I'm not building my own computer is cause... well, I haven't worked with a barebone kit since 2005, and I haven't been staying up to date with desktop hardware. (been dependant on my laptops for the past few years) I'd have to do maybe days worth of research and then hunt down the parts from different sources... I just wonna play SCII asap =/
 
Building your own rig would probably be more fun than playing the game. These guys are VERY helpful and well informed. Until last week I had never even touched a GPU but with feedback from some of this board's regulars I was able to get my first machine put together than runs awesome and outperforms, by far, any pre-fabricated system I would have found for the price.

You'll be able to play that game better on something you build, and you can build in a way that would eventually let you upgrade well enough to just pwn SCIII.
