PSU Watt?

Without configuring in an SLI setup you owuld look at a 450-500w model supply by a good make. The newer model supplies will have the power connectors available for the newer models cards out.
 
Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.

As stated on the 8800GTS 640MB's page. However wattage means very little. Check the amps on the 12v rails. I have read 26A is the minimum required. For a while system, I'd go for at least mid-30s.
 
Generally the larger supplies will see the higher amps offered on the rails. That will be seen more on SLI ready models. The smaller supplies often lack the added power connections seen as well. 26A on a single rail supply doesn't help any. :P
 
I once made a custom computer with a 550watt power supply that was not SLI compatible. It was a disaster, I now have a 1000watt power supply.

Those are powerful cards, remember your powering your hard drives, fans, graphics cards, physix cards, and processors all that require power, I'll assume you have a powerful CPU so you don't bottleneck there.

There all you had to do was go with a 550w supply that was SLI compatible to have enough power depending on make and model of course. That must have an older 500w model there. But more then how many watts are seen you need a stable supply that won't see dropoffs when a good load is placed on it. That's called regulation. You can have a great 450w supply that will run your system and then but a 600 or even 1000w supply to have nothing but problems without good regulation. Cheap supplies with cheap caps are no confort.
