my sister in laws laptop got beer spilt into and it dosent work anymore so i took the hard drive out and put it into my ubuntu computer. It pulled up the hard drive but idk how to get all her pictures and stuff off of it cus it seems to be all windows vista system files

Well Ubuntu is able to read NTFS file systems. After you open the drive from places you should be able navigate her file system from there. I can get into my windows partition by following

/600 gb filesystem/doccuments and settings/*username*/pictures

Just copy the files from there to someplace in your system.

i went through all the folders that are brought up and i see nothing that looks like the files on her computer theres not even a folder called document and setting

ok well there might be a difference between vista and 7. Is there anyplace that has her name or something like users?

i remember when accessing files on 7 it seemed to put the drive through loads of checks to ensure security even if it wasnt password protected, that was one of the problems i ran into when i was using it on a dual boot but it was easy to access in windows you just had to click ok or accept, i'm not sure how to do it on ubuntu.

apart from that have you mounted the drive correctly?
