Hi There,

I have just finished purchasing a Dell Server ( PowerEdge 1800 ) with Dual Intel Xeon 2.8Mhz/1mb Cache CPU's.

The Server is only coming with 256 mb of DDR2 Ram though because I find that Dell is a RIP-OFF if you wish to purchase Ram in Excess of 512Mb+

The Ram that comes with the Server is:
256MB DDR2 400MHz (1X256MB) Single Ranked DIMMs

My Question is, is this type of Ram very common? Easy to Find?
Do I need some type of special server ram or can I buy DDR2 ram from anyplace?

Thanks in Advance!!

You will want ECC DDR2 modules, I'd imagine any speed will be fine but you might as well use DDR2 400 as thats what ships with it.

lol, dell and all those other companies (hp, compaq, etc.) that make prebuilt pc's are ripoffs. www.newegg.com is also a great site. shipping is amazing and returns are incredibly easy there. bought almost my whole computer from that site.

go with newegg, DO NOT BUY FROM DELL. they are a complete ripoff. the only benefit is u keep ur warrnaty, if u have one. Go with newegg
