I want to upgrade but im not sure which one i should do? will 150-200 even get me a good vid card?? not a super big gamer right now im playin tom clancy advance warfighter 1 but im not sure which to buy...vid or psu

system

e6600
ds3 mobo
4 gb ocz gold ddr2800
1 rapter 75gb
1250gb for storage

thanks for the help guys

150-200 can get a vid card a a pretty site better than your x600. First though check the amperage on the 12 volt rail (on the side of your PSU) to see if your PSU is up to snuff.

Edit: Damn though.. apart from your GFX you got a nice rig. The 4gb ram is overkill however, less your using it for a server or somethin similar.

no got a really good deal on the ram...couldnt pass it up..plus i wanted to run dual chan so i went with 4 gigs...how do i check that psu rail thing??

you gotta open up your case and look for the sticker that dateiled the power distribution... look under +12V and what is the number there... some PSU may have several +12V column... in that case just list all of them... :D

Yup, that's decent, 31 amps combined. What brand is it? I wouldn't suggest getting any super high end cards/SLI, unless it's a good branded PSU.

Sorry about that.. I forget Newegg is stingy like that. (I used NCIX because i found the cards cheaper there than CC.)

This is the 8600gts.. $240. Over your budget but still the best bet for that price range.

And the 7600gt.. I own this card and can play most games out today on the highest settings (med-high with oblivion/fear) It isn't going to be able to play DX10 games however.

The third option is to wait till DX10 cards arrive in force.. driving the prices down. I'm waiting but that's more cause i'm currently broke. :(

lol i hear yea... i was looking at getting the ocz 700w gamextream psu i think then maybe get a new vid card when the dx10 cards are a little better in price.....then i think i will finally have a some what good gaming system

Good plan. Ocz makes good PSU's. On the video card front the 8800gts or HD 2900xt would suit you when you decide to shell out the cash.. they'd compliment your system, shiny.

yea im hoping the e6600 and 4 gigs with a good vid card should do alright...do you have any idea when those cards will be out..3rd q so im guessin around sept??

The X2k series is out, but I think they are abit over-priced at the moment. I think you should wait till the price comes down a bit before committing.
