This morning I turn on my HP EliteBook 8440p
a few minutes it all went to sleep, no response. when plugged in to power the blue light on the switch is on.

I was watching a movie I got from youtube last night, towards the end it was skipping.....I thought it was just the bad down load of the ClipGrab soft wear. Now I think it was the most expensive movie I ever watched.

Is it possible just to remove the hard drive disc and replace it? or is there an expensive procedure that must be done??

Try unplugging it then remove the battery. Plug it back in without the battery and boot. If it boots without any problems, then power it down and put the battery back in. Boot.

the power was ok....My friend was messing with it and it turn off... but the there is still no response when I press the switch. I believe that there was a virus attack on this movie (starting in the second half.) can some one check it? I can't swear that this is the copy I loaded....but it looks like it. Be careful! it maybe a sweet movie, but there is something insidious in it.

An infection wouldn't turn your system off and not allow you to turn it back on. Seems you have a power issue, namely power supply. It may have went out.

Well I am glad that the movie did not destroy my computer.....I was trying not to post the movie, but your AI would not just take the URL with out post it.

So what can I do? recon I will take it to a shop when AI get more money. but there is no way I am going to spend more than $200 for it. I can get a new light weight Chrome Book for something close to that. I hope.
