Putting my comp together, Video card problem

I am going ahead and sending it back to ASUS... I took the mobo out of the case and put it on a cardboard box (to avoid any possibility it was touching metal) and plugged in everything but the HD, in hopes for some bios beeps from the mobo... Got nothing... So that eliminates the possibility of touching anything... And I got no beeps for missing RAM or missing HD... I think the mobo is fried... I have to send out my board to ASUS, and they will send me one back... It's supposably going to take a while, damnit... :(

Anything else I can try before I ship it out? Or is it fried?

Yes, with speakers plugged in... No beeps with ram removed and everything plugged in... No beeps with everything but HD plugged in...

Deadd...

I would pretty much bet money on that Mobo being dead. Specifically the BIOS, this drive problem may have to do with the drives trying to communicate with the BIOS, but, the BIOS is six feet under so they just hang there and don't respond. I'd definetly return it. Very Nice setup by the way, hope it gets cranking. (And why, being a PC novice would you have sucha nice pc??? heh heh jk ;)

Ehhh, I live on my comp... Just never really messed with internals much... My friend helped me build my other comp... So I know how they go together and stuff, I just happen to have bad luck with it...

Going off to college, a nice computer would be a good thing to have... :)

Kind of random, but what are some good careers you can jump into computer related? ... I am going to Sacramento State University in like 6 months, and I have no idea what the hell I want to major in... :)

I would say get a degree that will allow lots of things, such as an engineering degree. (Computer or Electrical) Would you want to work with code or components... WAIT! I think i already know the answer... hehehe. Yeah I wish I could afford a nice rig like that. Not that mine is awful. Good luck at college by the way. I've got 2 more years till then (sophomore).

Sucks for you... heh... The next 2 years will fly... Seems like I started my senior year yesterday, and here I am with a month left till graduation... rah...

No beeps? the damn thing talks?... Ahhh

Double check the heat/sink/fan on your cpu is plugged into the board. Also double check the fasteners for your heatsink/fan. If they are all good tight (the fan does not rock when you apply pressure on each corner) shut off power athe rear of case and unplug.

Remove CMOS battery (there are also jumper which could be repositioned for a coupole seconds but don't know your board) replace CMOS battery + up. Plug PSU Case back in, turn on Monitor, turn on PSU (light on board should light) insert MB CD in drive and turn on machine with switch on front of case.
At this point it should boot into MB cd and get you to BIOS/setup. (assuming cd is in boot order).

That looks like a nice set up you have and it should be sweet when it is up and running. Make sure also the red switch on PSU is 110/120 not 210/230!
