Putting Read Only Documents On A Server

Hello

I have some documents that I want to put onto a Server in a shared folder for other network users to access and I want them to be read only.

By read only though I mean that I do not want people to be able to print the document, save it to a USB stick etc. I also dont want users to be able to attach it to an email either

Its only a small office server running XP Pro.

Basically I want to be able to put the document in the shared foder for the users to read and I dont want there to be any way they can extract the document for use outside the folder.

Is that possible? Its a word document but I could convert to another format if needed.

Im a bit of a novice regards servers so any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

o whoops over looked when you typed that.

I think your options are slim here, what kind of documents are we talking maybe office 2010 or 07 has something like that but i would have to check.

i know server 2008 has a feature that works with those softwares that could possibly do what you want done but im pretty sure you need the server.

Post back with what kind of files they are and what programs you are using to view them and i or someone might be able to figure something out. Its an interesting request, i never had a reason to do this before but im sure there is something for you just might cost money.

At the moment the docs are word 2002 but I could put them in another format if needed. If I can't do it with my set up then what do I need in order to do it? Thanks for your help

Ive had a look at that but im surprised that there is not a way to just configure what I want on the host PC.

What restrictions can I easily put in place? If I said that all I want to do is stop people moving the document out of the folder, resaving it to a different location or attaching it to an email is that any easier to do?

Thanks

Although I suppose it depends what the documents are, how are you going to stop someone doing a printscreen? Even if you stop that, there are things like digital and cellphone cameras, flash drives, and OCR software.
