Putting together my first build has been...

A %!$@#!!! Lol. EVERYTHING concerning the mobo, psu, and cpu have been hard. And i got the ozc gamestream with like extra long cables which makes cable management in itself hard, especially when the zalman cpu fan i got is HUGE andis next to another huge 140 mm case fan. the hdd, optical drives, ram, etc are all easy but i can't get to those til i finish the other stff. simply puttin the case and the mobo together is a crapload of work. ARGHH!

the mobo is bent and i think i put the cpu fan on backwards. im gonna have to take the whole thing apart anyway... i got so far but it might just be asier to start all over again and do this tomorrow. too bad im a high school student who works and doesnt actually get home til like 9:30 AND has homework. i was sooo hoping new egg got me the parts a day earlier than they did so i could do this all on my day off. :(

lol. almost a meaningless rant. im gonna go read the instructional manuals and look online and update later.
 
the worst thing is that i'm paranoid and i think i might have messed up quite a number of my components already. and the fact atht my hands are both shaky and sweaty probably dont help.

i had a friend over that was helping before and now taht he's gone ive taken everything apart and put it back together. seemed sooo much easier the 2nd time. however, the stand offs in the case and the screw holes in the mobo dont line up well and the heatsaink screws/heatsink bottom supporting beams hit the case and cause part of the mobo to stand up. also i think i migh thave dropped a screw in the case and after 15 mins of looking for it, i couldnt find it. the instruction manual says to be cautionous and to keep any loose screws from fallin int he case. :(

a mobo tray would ahave been soo much easier for my first build, as well as modular cables.
 
Hmmmmm, is ther a question there? are you wondering how all the cables should go in, because we could take you through it, its pretty simple.
If the cable doesnt fit, then its not supposed to go in there lol
 
Hahaha you know it, but its so true, in the old days it was all about memorisng the colours, and it was solid, (But i managed it :D)

And now its just easy as pie, well baking pie aint easy like, but i think you get the sayind :)!
 
Yea.. there was no actual question lol. Sorry. I thought i was doing everythign wrong, im extremely paranoid but it seems the standoffs on the case and the board just dont go well together. Which sucks.

However, im having trouble plugging in the case speaker/hdd led/reset light etc. Is there a correct way to put them in? On the motherboard manual it says soemthign about a positive side and a negative side. The actual case plugs have little arrows with "S"s above them and "G"s. I suppose the g stands for ground? Idk what the "S" stands for, or if i plugged them in right.

Also, i plugged my computer in and nothing happened. Usually when i plug in one of my other prebuilt comps, they kinda rev up even though they dont turn on. My computer didnt do that. Then when i hit the power button, once again nothing happened. I'm really hoping i wasn't handling the motherboard too much when i thought i did everything wrong, cuz i took the comp apart andf restarted again like 5 times.

Also, while i was taking the comp apart, i used 70% isopropyl Alcohol to clean off the cpu and heatsink. Is this alright? And what would happen if you covered some of your mobo withthermal grease and tried to start the comp? JW... because its conductive... lol
 
Oh. and i forgot one thing, i have ddr2 - 800 ram with 4-4-3 timings which uses 2.0-2.1 voltages. The ds3 supposedly supports 5-5-5/6-6-6 and 1.8 voltages on boot-up. Even though the computer didn't rev up, could that have been the reason why it didnt start up? The ram is uncompatibile with a first time boot up?

1st thing: Use cable ties
2nd thing: Depends on how you want your airflow
3rd thing: Me too, I have been learning VB and Kornowski helped me make a program that helps in Calculus and Trigonometry. I am working on more programs that do my homework for me, lol.
 
lol. i should have thought of that. But right now i dont really know any programmign languages. i know a bit of basic and a few years ago i tried t teach myself c++ and VB to no avail...

but yea.. juss a few questions i asked before.

My conclusion right now is that the mobo is dead. if it wasnt before, i think a capacitor fell off when i was removing it from my case.. mayhbe it was already off. Idk. BUt idk.. maybe i simply connected the case wrong? A litle too late to fix anything now but im going to need to know for when i get a replacement mobo.

And how can you tell which direction a fan (cpu fan) is going to blow?
