Putting XP On New Dell Desktop With Vista?

im going to buy a new desktop and the one i want only comes with vista i have windows xp dell oem cds from my old pc can i format the new pc and use one of the old oem cds to put xp on my new pc without a problem?
 
What's with what Gates said? You can from now downgrade any new computers from Vista to XP using some software pack.

I really don't know exactly what he said but it was just few months ago when he said he's not selling XP computers anymore but the possibility of downgrading is now legal and far more easily done.
 
Make sure you have all the drivers tho. I heard that some new systems are built vista only and when people downgraded, they had trouble finding the drivers for everything.
 
I'm not completely positive dude, but the OEM disk from Dell that you mentioned....yea it can only work with original computer it came from. When you say OEM, does that mean 'disks that came with the computer'? Then it will only work with the computer that you recieved the CD's with. Sucks huh?
 
ok just wanted to update you all i ordered a vista dell system inspiron 530 formated it upon arrival and used my old xp oem disk and worked smoothly not asking for activation,updating successfully and dell.com still offers the xp drivers

yeah i justed reformatted my brother's system today and it didn't ask for activation!

But nice to know it works.
