Hello.

I have a HP PAVILION ZX5100 and i have buy a new HD.
I change the HD and when i turn on my laptop it appears this mesage:

pxe-e61:media test failure check cable

i have take off the HD and put it on again, and the problem still persistes.

In the BIOS i haven't found any boot form the network option.

The HD is brand new, i want to format it and install Windows, can anyone help me??

I've tried everthing (i think) and i cant solved the problem.......

You are trying to netboot (PXE boot) your system. go into the bios and make the NIC that last boot item in the boot order, or disable it completely. You need to boot off your windows CD (or recovery disc) first before you cycle through all the boot options. Most likely your computer can not find bootable material so it is going down the list with netboot being last.

Ok i just disable the network adapter in the boot order and the mesage didin't appear anymore, but now he tells me that he cannot find any hard drive connected to teh computer...

But the HD is connected, i have take it off and put it in again, but he still tells me that he cannot find any HD....

No, in the BIOS says that there's no HD connected to the computer... The jumpers are equal to the old HD that i have...

I cannot understand why the computer cannot find the HD...

Well it is one of three things

1) Not configured properly, if this is a notebook drive remove all jumpers
2) Not installed properly. Check all cables
3) Dead out of the box HD, it happens.
