Q on one of Linux's basic functions.

Alright, so I ordered a laptop online, and it's supposed to get here tomorrow and before I pay, I want to check if every main component - hd, ram, vcard and the processor are... well, what I asked for.
The thing is, it's coming with a Linux system and I don't recall ever working with one, except for may be once. So where exactly can I get the information I need, and also if you have any other recommendation if I should check something else, do share.
 
Just jump in and try it, if you don't like it you can always install Windows.

Last year I was installing XP on quite a few Linux Laptops for people who decided they didn't like Linux.

My 3 big local Computer stores stopped stocking Laptops with Linux installed though. I heard Customers returns were driving management nuts.
