Hi, I have a PC that duel-boots Vista and XP, but I've always used Vista. After a year of working, my wireless internet just stopped working using Vista. It still works wirelessly from XP, but I have to plug in directly to access the internet from Vista.
It says "Currently connected to: Unidentified network (linksys) Access: Local only," four out of five bars are green, it says "Connected," and it says the signal strength is good, the security type is unsecured, and the radio type is unknown. There's a little yellow caution icon with a black exclamation point over the network icon, and in the network and sharing center, it shows me connected to the "unidentified network," but then not to the internet.
If I diagnose and repair, it suggests plugging in or automatically getting new IP settings for the wireless connection, which I try, and after attempting to repair it says a problem with my network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection.
We bought a new router and just got a new modem (this problem happened while we had the old ones which used to work, though, so if anything, buying new ones should have solved it) AND they work fine for everyone else in the house (wirelessly)!
Any suggestions? Thanks so much! :/
