Q6600 help!

Alright. Unless getting my heatsink seated better actually drops my temps by a decent amount I doubt I'll OC it anymore.

I'm really disapointed now though because I have it at 3.2Ghz, my RAM at like 820Mhz (somewhere around there) a creative extreme gamer and two GTX 285's and yet when I put farcry 2 on max details, no AA, at 1680x1050 I average 30FPS.

I don't believe Far Cry 2 does that great of job with SLI...a lot of people with issues via google.

Though if you wanted a good chip I would suggest either E8400 or Q9450+ those chips will easily hit 3.6ghz or higher.

3.2ghz-3.4ghz is common for the Q6600.

You could try using nHancer to set a FC2 profile to force SLI...seems to work for some...I use it currently for AA3 which has no options for AA etc.

I think I'll just wait until I can upgrade to nehalem since I will within at least a year. Buying a better CPU for 775 would be a waste of money right now.

Today I just finished overclocking my q6600 and I successfully overclocked to 3.6 GHz and its stable too. :D

I'm rather pissed. I survived 1 hour of stress testing at 3.2Ghz but in under 15 minutes of playing crysis my computer crashed >_> Had to drop back down to 2.4ghz so it wouldn't crash.

Reason you want to prime95 for 6 hours or more for stability. Sounds like you need to might need to drop the clock speed or raise your voltage.

Also google Memtest and run 2 passes (can do it when you sleep) on your memory. The overclock might have made it unstable.

Test the memory BEFORE underclocking..see if its just unstable...if it is then loosen your timings.
