q6600 overclock troubles

I've been trying to overclock my processor (Q6600) and I'm only successful to 2.7 GHz. After that I hit a wall. At 2.7 GHz the computer is completely stable and works perfectly, at 2.709 GHz it instantly crashes. The memory and front side busses are unlocked and I've bumped all my voltages up above what I've read any other overclockers needed. I just want to get to 3.0 GHz and help on getting there would be great. thanks.

You need to lower the memory speed, I believe on the 680i you just set it to run at a different speed, unless by unlocked you mean it's staying at DDR2-800.

yes thats what i mean. i've been keeping the memory at 800 and ONLY changing the processor clock speed. so... any suggestions?

I really don't know what to tell you hear, did you make sure that all the spread spectrums are disabled, C1E is disabled, etc? And what voltage are you using for your RAM and CPU?

1.6v is WAY too high, try lowering it to 1.45 and see if it helps at all (if you havent already tried that is).

ok ya i tried that, still with no success. i knew 1.6 overkill but i couldn't think of anything else to do. are there any other bios settings i should change besides the voltages? and should i change any of the other voltages besides the cpu?

hooray. i finally got it up to 3.4 GHz and it runs 4 instances of Prime95 torture test no problem. thank you everyone.
