i reset my cpu settings to default and put the voltage and everything on auto and put it right up to 3.1ghz, and i have intel speed step on so it lowers the clock my temps are
cpu temp 37.5
core1 46
core2 44
core3 37c
core4 38
cpu voltage 1.408
and the cpu speed switches from 2.1ghz to 3.1 is it hot at 2.1 because it is still taking in the extra voltage, cause 2.4 i get 30c
 
my computers CPU at 55degrees on average and goes about 60 sometimes .. cause i took out all my fans in my cmputer(cause they were too loud) but one 400rpm fan(which is real slow) my my quite PSU fan(so pretty much no case fans).. Its over clocked from 2.1ghz to 3.2ghz been like that for like a year now .. and it hasn't died yet + my computers is never turned off (hense y i had to take off my fans .. cause i had to sleep thourgh it) .. so i don't think your's will .. cause i know anyways by the time my CPU dies it'll be worth jack .. like i bought my E6400 like a year ago .. for liek $600 and now its like only $200.. so .. doesn't bother me if it fry's cause i know i got heaps outa it cause a 2.93ghz duel core at that time was like $1500(all prices in NZD) and 3.2ghz > 2.93ghz.. and its time to upgrade soon anyways.

im not gonna build a system for like more then 5 years, gonna colledge in 2 years, so probably gonna buy a laptop, i think ill put it at 3.1 ghz and just keep it there, if i tried and had the time i could probably get to 4.0ghz though, but im dissapointed that the already games are comming out that a 8800gts can almost not run at max settings and i just spent 350 bucks on it like a bit more then 6 month ago
