Q9450 OEM vs Q9450 Retail

The OEM version is just the processor, you don't get a heatsink/fan, documentation, sticker, or the box.
 
yea OEM is jsut the bare processor, it is usually cheaper, and it comes without a warranty and heatsink. a Retail version comes with a Heatsink (which is a must), warranty, the intel sticker, and the good feeling you get.
 
this is basically what it is. OEM is cheaper, no warranty, and no heatsink. Retail is more money, 3 year warranty, and a heatsink. OEM is good if your going to overclock or use aftermarket thermal like AS-5, since those things void the warranty. i bought retail with the warranty, and you have no proof that i ever overclocked or used AS-5!! haha.

You still have the 10-30 day warranty from the seller, so if you bought it from Newegg then I believe you have either 10-15 days on OEM processors. It's not like if you buy it and it doesn't work you are screwed.
