quad core or dual

This may sound like a stupid question, but which is better:

Intel Xeon E5310 Quad-Core 1.6GHz Socket 771 1066MHz
or Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.67ghz socket 775


Its was just a bit odd that they were that same price on the same website ??
would the socket make any difference??

The Xeon is a server processor while the C2D is a desktop processor. They are disigned for different uses.

The quad cores are so expensive at the moment, I guess it should be expected being just on the market and all. Its daylight robbery. :confused:
 
If you're gaming then Core 2 Duo will perform much better because of it's higher clock speed, and the fact that it's a desktop processor.

LGA775 motherboards are also better for gaming (certain ones), then 771, since those are server sockets.
