Hi, My mums computer is using an intel core 2 quad q8200 processor (x64) and we have been having thermal timeout errors where the machine turns off through overheating. I have run CoreTemp and it was saying how one of the processors was running at 100 degrees C just internet browsing.
Core One Min 74 Degrees Max 107 Degrees
Core Two Min 70 Degrees Max 98 Degrees
Core Three Min 70 Degrees Max 97 Degrees
Core Four Min 70 Degrees Max 93 degrees.
The pc is running vista home premium, what should I do, I recently changed the box to a smaller box and recieved this problem with the CPU fan running at 4000 RPM instead of normal 2000RPM, when i put everything back in the case, it ran at 2000RPM (after I plugged in a rear fan to the mobo.) The CPU fan Revs every couple of seconds too, should I be worried, I checked the thermal paste and there is still enough on the processor. Now the processors are running at 67 Degrees but will occasionally spike to over 100 like I mentioned. The PC is an Advent QC7003. Thanks for any ideas. If it is thermal paste, can someone give me a walkthrough. Thankyou.
EDIT: Which ones of these would you suggest if so?
