Quad vs Dual - The Battle

tbh this post is going to make all the E8400 users say.....yeah look at our superpi scores againsts those Q6600 we kill them.

yeah that may be so because you have higher clock speeds but in the real world (not benchmarks) the Quads are king when it comes to more games becomming available that take advantage of Quad core power then those E8400s wont be so good ;)

im realy happy with my Quad i wouldnt trade it for a 8400 even if i could get it stable 4.2Ghz!

Its just going to be a never ending war between the Q6600 and E8400 users.

the point is, E8400s currently outperform Q6600 in a lot of areas. no one is arguing that eventually the Q6600 will be the better chip, but right now for a lot of people and their needs, it isn't. that is the argument we are making in a nutshell.

That's the point we're making too, why buy something if you can get something (Q6600) that will be better and you won't have to upgrade for a little while longer.
Anyway, back on topic...

this is the topic...

and the reason why someone would buy it, is because it currently outperforms the Q6600 in a lot of areas, games being one of them. for someone that plays as many games as I do, there's no reason why I would want a Q6600.

*sigh* The Duals perform better for the majority of games now. There's some games that are already out, and games that will come out, that use all 4 cores, so you're wasting your money if you want something to play this or last generations games.

alright since you didn't understand me last time i'll break it down even further.

dual = perform better NOW.
currently, the time is NOW.

when i buy a CPU i want the best performing chip for my needs that is in my pricerange, which at the time was the E8400. the next time i am in the market for a CPU, i will read around and find out what is best for gaming, and then proceed with buying that chip. as often as I change my hardware, i don't care about what might be slower now, but will be better "in the future". the fact remains that E8400 is better for gaming in the vast majority of games. i feel like a broken record right now

I'm starting to lose hope on this forum, each day it doesn't fails to piss me off.

wah.

Better in the future, Oh, let me think, would that be the Q6600.

obviously you misunderstood what i said. let me rephrase. the Q6600 is inferior now, and therefore is not the right choice for someone that plays games and also lives in the present day.

there is no answer to which chip is better. for the thousandth time, each chip will suit different people with different needs. if you can't take someone disagreeing with you without getting hot tempered about it, maybe you shouldnt make a thread titled "the battle"

I wasn't getting hot tempered. lol...

Ok, Sure. Right now, Yeah. Give it a few months and who knows...

So you may be right about the E8400 being the best chip right now, that's what this thread is about.

each chip will suit different people with different needs

That'll be why I've said we should do a load, of different varying tests.

I agree, even if one is better, its not by a large margin at this time.

Then you can get into all the specifics, of well this ones OC'd ect ect. Both are formidable processors and will do just fine with any game on the market. Even if the 6600 will be better, its not now and theres already the i7's out there soo......to me its like saying, what do you want to drive? A Cadillac(lets say its the same weight as the vet) with 500 HP or Corvette with 500 HP.

All Kornowski wants is for members to post different benchmarks with different duals and quads. I don't think that's too much to ask.

To be honest, I can't really be all that bothered any more.

Feel free to close this thread, Mike.
