quad vs. duo

For gaming, the E8400 is better.

If you need it for a workstation and heavy multitasking the quad will be better.
 
That is until game developers can distribute jobs properly then a multi threading quad should be better. The problem with this is though, who knows if or even when they will implement such technologies.

If isn't a question; when is the big one. Crysis, HL2:ep.2 and several other big games were promised to be "quad capable", but they ended up only disappointedly so. It's a pretty difficult job however, or so i hear, the bug testing alone for parallel, Simultaneous multithreading code is supposedly a real bitch. Finite budgets and schedules will act to coagulate any movement towards competant, reactive code.

I predict (!!) a better defined effort going forward though. Either Slowly gaining ground, or a quick and strong showing, we'll get there.
