well im thinking of building a quad core xeon system..

can anybody give me some info on the pros and cons of this kinda setup compared to my "now" setup?

i want something a bit different from the norm

do you mean one xeon processer or 4 of them? and if you get the right mobo you can pair 2 of them together for a total of 17ghz if you get the 2.14 ghz version or whatever it is

Nah, it doesn't work like that.

Intel's Skulltrail mobo will allow you to run a Xeon processor. In fact, you can run two. Read through this search for more info.

funky i was reading about this Skulltrail mobo in a pc mag i got today and you can actualy put 2 Quad core processers in so you would have like 8 cores lol.

im not sure how good it wold be though to have 2x dual xeons

Yeah, I thought about doing this recently. One pro of using a Xeon on a server motherboard would be the increased capacity for RAM. Some have up to 64 Gb of RAM.

lol... that would be majour overkill:eek:

interesting though

Would be sad if you dont use it as a server because Xeon's are designed for servers. If you use it for gaming, just get an extreme and save some big bucks that wont do much if you're not using it for server.
