anyone playing q4 with ultra settings, everything turned on and maxed with vertical sync on able to play quake 4 smoothly @ 1080x768 or better?
if so, what's your system? im playing the demo on high settings (ultra not available), everything maxed w/ vertical sync on @ 1080x768 and i average 30fps maybe, but it can dip into the mid teens :(
i'd like to play with ultra settings everything maxed when i get the game for christmas, so will i need another 7800gt?

i see that ultra setting requires a lot of ram, both system and video... or more of one or the other. i guess ill buy another gb sooner than later, if it's worth it.. can anyone tell me if it is heh?

You deffinetly need more than 1GB of ram, especially to play on max settings in a game such as quake 4.

it averages about 45-50fps with everything maxed except vertical sync off... but the frames will tear when i move swiftly. i guess i can suffer this until i feel like burning a couple hundred on another gig.
i suppose i dont need ultra settings as people have said it's nothing very noticeable, and it chops your system up without 512 video memory and 2gb system.

i saw a basic benchmark on some other forum from a 4 module system (4x 512) and it runs slightly slower at lower res, but the benefits are noticeable @ higher.. around 1280x1024 +

^with v-sync on? i can play it at maxed settings (not ultra) without v-sync on at a steady 60fps and it never ever dips, but i get frame tearing every now and then; however, with v-sync on it can dip pretty low at parts.
