Question About 256k

What should be the minimun speed at which I download trough a 256k cable connection ? Im in the 25-30's right now.

Nope, Lorand is right. 1 byte = 8 bits thus 256 kbits/8 = 32KB/s, unless you are taking into account an unaccounted-for variable, i.e. that it is not possible to reach the maximum speed of possible bandwidth.

umm...yeah...thats exactly what i was doing... :P But when you think about it, it does make more sense.
 
I have a 256 kbps cable and sometimes the dl speed from certain servers could reach 46 kB/s, or even more if I copy something directly from another computer connected to the same cable.
 
One thing to add

Hey having such fast internet as a 2mbit wifi connection like me, one really feels awful when the service goes down...even of it happened only a few times. Believe me when I say that I would rather not have internet at all than to use dialup again. Maybe I would but hey cable broadband is so much cheaper these days and is available almost anywhere...almost. Where it is not, wifi is a good solution.
