Question about ancient laptop connector

Hello :)

Is somebody able to identify the connector as depicted?

I am working on reviving an old Sager Model 87 Laptop from 1997; everything seems to work, but I am unable to get the hdd working.

I found that there was probably a bad connection on one of the IDE pins; I am looking for a way to re-pin somehow, but I am unable to identify the connector type shown.

Thanks for your help

It looks like a board to board connector. What specifically for, who knows. There are too many possibilities to list them all

The other end plugs into the hdd adapter - interestingly the same connector is used for the swappable CD-ROM. Well I am trying to figure out which pin does what, and will try and connect a hdd to see what happens...
