Question about battery

I'm sorry if this questions been asked already but I couldn't find it. I heard that your not supposed to charge your laptop battery until it is completely drained in order to conserve it's life. Is this true? Is there anything I should know about recharging my battery. I have an ibook if that makes an difference.

Im pretty sure that its better to charge them when they are almost dead then when you've justb used it for 20 minutes or so. Because if you charge it after 20 min, only 1 or 2 of the cells are being used, so if you keep charging and using it for 20 minutes, then those forst 2 cells will loose there hold much quicker then if you let it use most of the battery up first.

no, i believe all the cells work together to power the notebook, not 2 cells until they are dead next 2 ect. ect.
so bascially, charge it whenever you want pretty much. basically the only negative effects to battery life is heat and i can't remember the other one, lol.

Laptop batteries are made to charge on the fly...you can use half the battery and charge, you can use 1/4 of tha battery and charge, you can use all of the battery and charge...it doesn't matter, there are no ill effects

just try not to leave you machine processing while it is in your backpack or notebook bag or whatever you use to carry it...gets damn hot and can ruin the battery, and can ruin other internal components

the old batteries we like this. Modern ones are fine. Just plug it in whenever. The only thing I've heard is to occasionally let it run all the way down until your computer shuts itself off (like once a month). This doesn't preserve battery life, but it recalibrates the life meter so the notebook can accuratly tell you how much juice is left.
