Question about big monitors

Hey I currently have a 17'' flat screen and I want to bump it up quite a bit. I was just wondering how big is to big. I was looking at maybe a 23" or maybe bigger. Im kinda thinking that anything bigger than that would be annoying. The screen would be so big you would have to move your head all around to see stuff. What are your guys opinions?

i have a huge "12 Compaq monitor, screens small but the rest is huge, and i have a "13 Gateway way monitor, bigger than the Compaq, huge back, and no you wont have 2 turn your head, just adjust the size of the screen and stuff, with the settings in the monitor.

how high do they go? Lmao.
120" and up. That is of course using a projector which is almost the only thing I'll use now. Other than that you can get fairly large monitors in both CRT and LCD.

I ordered a 30 inch last night and I have a 24 right now, bigger is better, trust me

I would rather take a 15" screen than a 30" if the 15" had good contrast ratio, 2-4ms responce time.

I use a 17" monitor. I tried to use a 19" monitor but, it annoyed me.

19" is too big for me while playing games (FPS anyways) Im sure bigger is better for like role-playing games though.

as you can see, it really depends for each person. i love big monitors, but not too big. if you are far enough away from the screen, bigger sizes are really great, but at 2-3 feet away 30" is almost too big to game on. I'd say 24" is a good max size for 'medium distance' gaming. I currently use a 20" widescreen and love it, but i could easily use a bigger one without problems. just make sure it has good response time (less than 16ms is usually fine, one of mine has 12 and the other has 8 and i never see ghosting, even if i try) and contrast ratio (greater than 500:1, bigger the better).

i have a 21" crt, and it is perfect for everything @ 1280x1024 70hz. i think 23 might be a little better, but beyond that you'd probably start having to move the monitor farther away.

I got a 1600x1200@60Hz
Bigger is better!!!!
Well it takes time to get use to the desktop icons but other than that gaming and tv is awesome.

but arnt the lamps not very good in projectors
The lamp life can be limited, particularly on cheaper models where it's usually in the range of about 2000 hours. The manufacturers also advise not keeping them turned on for prolonged periods, usually defined as over 5 hours, as heat buildup can cause faster deterioration.

I'm not a huge fan of projectors for gaming, although I love them for movies. The contrast ratio isn't as good as a monitor, and you really need to be in a darkened room.

I have a 17, I am ordering a 19. Anything over 20" is way to big for me(unless the monitor is miles away).

dang, 21 inch crt? that must weigh a ton. well, for me, ive never had anything bigger than 17 inch, but ive used 30 inch dell displays at my local computer store and its just great. but thats just me, i dont really mind having to turn my head to see eveything

ive got a 26" hdtv i use as a second monitor. its to big to use as a defualt monitor. i like my 17" and my 26" for games only
