Question About Cathodes

When I ordered my new computer, I got some dual cold cathodes with it (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811994001). When I broke them out of the package, the first thing the wires did was fall out of the little switch thing that turns the lights on/off. I tried just connecting them directly without the switch and they turn on.
The RMA would cost more than they are worth, so I'm thinking I could just solder or electrical tape them together, so they are always on, because my case is really dark without them.
Question: Would soldering/taping the wires together cause any problems i.e. fires? I figured I could just strip the wires down, and twist them together and electrical tape them together, but was kinda afraid to do so because a fire inside my case would be terrible.

Sorry for the confusing sentences, I'm kinda tired...
 
they're low enough voltage i wouldn't think anything would happen, but i would rather use electrical tape rather than solder them, just so long as your computer doesn't turn on by itself(i hope it doesn't) it should pose no fire hazard, so long as your by the computer while its on it shouldn't matter
 
I would go ahead and solder it. It wont start an electrical fire if it grounds out because its low voltage. Just make sure to insulate any exposed wires.
