Question about fans and a custom case

Hi, I plan to build a completely custom wooden case out of Walnut. I plan to have 2 120mm intake fans in the front and 2 120mm outtake fans on the top.... Now the question is, do I REALLY need an outtake fan on the back? I know heat rises and I could make my CPU Heatsink Fan point up so is there really any hurt in changing my total airflow in the case from, front to back, to a more front to top method?

Also, anyone have suggestions for mounting fans on wood? I'm trying to avoid a direct mount due to resonance, so I plan to surround the fan in a small layer of foam or rubber or something, and then do a cutout of that size in the wood, and secure it inside that cutout, without ever actually securing the fan TO the wood. Any ideas would be nice, I'm pretty close to starting this, this is my only holdup really.
 
I didn't see any rules on bumping in the "Rules" thread so I'm going to do that, someone please correct me if I'm not allowed to do this or it has a time limit. Really just looking for some input on this.
 
bumping probably isn't needed here, most threads take forever to get to page two, but to answer your question, how many 5.25 drive bays are you going to have? because i would just have all the 120 mm fans set to push air out of the case(this is assuming the case isn't air tight otherwise, if you don't like that idea, you could just put a single fan to pull air in
 
It has as many 5.25" bays as I want, this is completely custom. I am taking the lumber I have and cutting everything out individually, but I am only cutting in 1 bay. I don't think having all fans pushing air out of the case is a good idea though, then no air is actually coming in to flow through. I am just wondering if it is a bad thing to not have a REAR fan that pushes air out. Because if I do not have that rear fan, my case is going to consist of 2 120mm fans in the front and then 2 120mm fans on the top. The top fans will push air out of the case and the front fans will pull air in to the case.
 
just try it both ways and see what gets you better temperatures, it isn't all that hard to just switch the fan direction
