That is not what is holding you back. I can play oblivion on my amd sempron 2300+ so you are good there. What video card do you have?

My graphics card is a 256 mb GeForce FX 5500, but im pretty sure its my 1.04 ghz processor
maybe this is your problem
i couldnt play it on my 9200 anyway
but the fx5500 is better than mine
read the README file and find the minimum system requirements

Minimum Settings:
Windows XP -Check
512MB system Ram -Check
2Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivelent processor -upgrading to meet this
128MB Direct3D compatible video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible Driver-Check

8x DVD-ROM drive; 4.6 GB free hard disk space; DirectX 9.0c (included); DirectX8.1 compatible sound card;Keyboard, Mouse

Recommended:
3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivelent processor
1 GB System Ram
ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

533Mhz is slow, but all the new Celerons run at 533Mhz FSB. That is a minor reason why it's performing slowly, the major reasons are your video card and the fact that you have low cache sizes.

ChickenPizza, were you looking to buy the Pentium 4 3.06GHz or the Celeron D 3.06GHz?
If I understood him right, it's that he already has the computer and he's saying that he cant run Oblivion with his computer.

Please clarify what you mean ChickenPizza so we can further help you.

do you have a 3.06ghz or a 1.04ghz processor?
the fx-5500 is by no means a good card. it ought to play it though.

It does seem a bit confusing, but since he sait he has a 533Mhz FSB, he must mean the 3.06Ghz since the bus on a 1.04Ghz wouldnt be 533.

He has a 1.04ghz CPU and he was asking about the 3.06ghz becuase thats what he wants to get instead of his 1.04ghz

the 3.06hgz CPU would be fine, The P4 Edition would be better then a celeron D edtion, keep that in mind, also make sure you have the correct socket for your motherboard for it to work.

I see what you mean now. But as far as I know 1.04Ghz CPU's were either Slot format, or Socket 370. And the 3.06Ghz CPU's are either 478 or LGA775.
