okay im building a pc with this specs:

Q6600 core2 quad 64-bit
evga gtx260
evga nforce 790i SLI mobo
2 gb ddr3 corsair 1333mhz
windows xp 32-bit

im wondering if you guys think it`ll work, SUGGESTIONS, and if you have any idea what kind of performance (FPS) ill get in games like crysis, CoD, etc.

thanks a lot.

going future sli? and get 4gb of ddr2 800. its like 5 bucks more. go with g. skill. and get 64 bit vista. if you arent going sli i would get the gigabyte p45. and hard drive? PSU?

im definitely going sli

and about the power suplly im a little screwed because i live in ecuador and the best i can get is a 600w with 2 12+V rails that add up to just 35A (card says 36A), will this not work at all?

Any particular reason for vista?, how big an improvement will it be compared to the 32 bit XP since i might have a hard time finding it here.

Nothing is wrong for a quad core for gaming. I would actually recommend it. The Q6600 is already an Intel legend and is very versatile and overclocks very well. Ya, the E8500 or E8600 might score a few more points in a benchmark test because of it's higher clock speed, the newer games will use all 4 cores, contrary to popular belief. I have run many CPU monitors when I play and all my games (CoD WaW, Crysis, Far Cry 2 and BiA Hell's Highway) and all of them use all 4 cores when playing.

The eVGA 790i motherboard uses DDR3 memory not DDR2. If you can upgrade to 4GB, you will see a difference with the performance.

He does have a point...I think Vista 64bit is the best operating system Microsoft has produced yet. Very stable and plays well with software. Many people are hesitant to switch to Vista for the first time...once you use it for a while you'll like it. I have been running Vista Ultimate 64bit in my laptop and Vista Home Premium 64bit on my desktop since it was released. The only issues I have had with are are self induced (me trying to tweak it in places it shouldn't be messed with:D)

600w power supply with 35 amps will be just scraping by with that motherboard and graphics card combo. It might work. I would recommended 36 amps on the 12v rail for your card. A good friend of mine was in that exact same position, he had a 650w XION power supply with 34 amps. He tried it and it would not run his XFX GTX 260. He got a new power supply and everything worked perfect. You might want to look into getting a new power supply...maybe try some online retailers with international shipping.

Only that its a waste as games only use a max of two cores to play inspite of claims they use all 4
but fine if you going to play games and run video editing software or antivirus at the sametime or other labour intensive programs

for now they probably are with games what are released by since teh release of GTA IV things have changed with it been enhanced for multicore and ohh boy does it use them!
