Question about graphics cards

Ok, say I have 512MB RAM, and installed a 128MB graphics card.

Would 128MB be taken away from the 512MB RAM, leaving me with 384MB RAM?

not if you have a graphics card. ram is only taken away from the systm if the graphics is intergrated in the motherboard.

OK, so i'm gonna have to uninstall the on-board graphics card because I install the new one.

One more question. What do they mean by 'AGP 8x' and stuff like that?

its the speed the card is, or something like that. most x8 agp cards are backwards compatible with x4 agp motherboards and sometimes x2 agp

Yes, to avoid conflicts, go into BIOS and disable the onboard video card. Do this only after you have sucessfully installed your new card.

Nope. Even if you had onboard, you'd be limited to 64MB

Dig around in the bios and look for something like AGP 3.0 or AGP 2.0 (3.0correponds to AGP8X and 2.0, relates to AGP4X)
