I was wondering if mac uses the same parts as most pcs and just a diffrent OS. I DONT want to build a mac or hackingtosh or anything like that, i was just wondering what kind of componets they use in them. I was on the apple website and they are offering a 12 core mac pro and was wondering if it has like two 6 core amd processors or what in it. The price starts as 5k. What in the hell would you need 12 freaking cores for?!?!?

Notice that I edited my post after I reread your post.

The parts inside don't seem to justify the price tag, am I the only one? Or are the desktops built out of platinum as well...

Well that thing is a few years out of date. I don't know what type of RAM it takes.
