Forget about auto updates and having Internet Explorer.
Im asking and curios and thought one or the other is required.
Can it be downloaded manually some how. Always thought it was one
or the other. Am i correct with my logic?

Any download with like firefox.
No need to, but asking and curious.
I don't think so but guessing.
Always required one or the other.

Tremmor, you really don't make sense sometimes :P

What I think from what you're saying:

With Windows XP and below you need Internet Explorer to initiate updates manually. If you have it set to auto update, then updates will just download on their own.

With Vista and 7 you don't need IE, as Windows Update is it's own program.

I don't have any problems. i use windows 7 pro, xp pro and download manually for me.
Ive seen others mention took off Explorer completely then downloaded manually. How do ya do that? Only other option i know of is auto download then take it all.

Im asking can you manually download from somewhere at microsoft if auto is shut off and don't have internet explorer. Down mean nothing but just curious. Its a maybe.
Never seen it. I never deleted explorer because of this. wanted to pick and choose manually which ones. Others say different. A NO answer works fine. Or yes and how.

You can download any microsoft security updates individually with any browser and install them manually.
