question about movie DVD's

Is it possible to make a copy of a DVD movie into WMP? I tried using the rip feature, but it said insert an audio cd. I don't want to make a copy of the disc. I just want to put it directly into WMP.
 
so are you trying to put the DVD on your hard drive? If so, thats illegal and you wont get much help from this forum. If this is not what you are trying to do, could you plz be a little more specific.
 
Yes I am trying to put it on my hard drive. Why is doing this illegal? I'm not going to share it or redistribute in any way. I just want a copy on my computer so if something happens to the disk I can make a backup.

Seems like it would be the other way around, but I doubt you'll be getting much help also. But you can always try google. :rolleyes:
 
Making a copy of a DVD is in no way illeagle. You are entitled to one hard copy backup of any data that you own.

Ahh, so its ok if i go to Blockbuster, rent American Pie, use *** ****** to put it on my HD, take the movie back, then burn a copy for myself, its ok. Maybe if you own the DVD it might not be illegal(although i still think it is) but probably still shouldnt discuss it. Might i suggest searching on google.
 
I just want to make clear that I own the movies. I just want to have a backup of my movies. I just want to know if it is possible to do make a copy on my system and if so how.

It is possible yes, but it is illegal no matter matter how you look at it, whether its for personal use or not. And seeing as its illegal, it goes against forum rules, so it can't be discussed.
 
trust i learned this the hard way from this forum


BUT, say you have a DVD that you made that has no copyright protection on it, just search google for a DVD video ripper
