Question about my modem/router

In 2002, I came home from school and my parents were pissed because someone had made 2 $160 calls to a 1900 number. They thought it was a mistake but I knew differrent. A couple of weeks back, I remember seeing a "dialer" installed on my computer, but at the time, I didnt take much notice of it. It was only when my parents told me about the phone bills they recieved that I realised what had happened.

So having said that, I have 2 questions..
1) which one of these is the modem and which one is the router?

--Dynalink RTA 230 ADSL Router
--DI-524 Wireless Router 802.211G /2.4Ghz Dlink

2) can any of them (modem and router) dial out a phone number?

thank you

Any device on your network that is connected to the internet has the capability to dial a phone number, however i'm not entirely sure how it does it if you use a broadband connection.[/QUOTE]

really?
i thought only dial-up modems were capable of dialling out?
i have broadband.
i posted here cause i wanted to be sure that they were not capable of dialling a phone number.

What I meant was any device has the capability to dial-out, if a dialer is installed on your computer then your computer is the device that dialed the number. I'm not sure how it works with broadband connections though, perhaps it dials-out using a giving phone number, and then charges the call to your DSL provider.
