Question About networking

hi guys, I have some questions about networking. My family owns a total of 4 laptops and 1 PC. I am wondering what do I need to connect them together? I know that I probably need a modem and a wireless router. I use DSL connection for internet and I live in a 3 storeys house. Do I need anything else in order to make sure that I would have a better wireless connection? Someone told me that I probably need an extra access point.Also, my siblings and I play several games such as Counterstrike and Warcraft DoTA. If I want to play a LAN game with them in the house, do I actually need an internet connection?? For example, if I do not have any internet connection in my house at all, what do I need to connect all the computers in my house ?

you dont need a modem you already have one on your DSL
also you dont need internet to play LAN game with other computers in the
house.
you need a wireless router " make sure that it is wired also dont get one that limits you to only wireless "
being that the house is 3 stories, depending on where you sit the wireless router you may need a wireless extender.
