question about plugging in a display to a computer

i like the way the dvi (same as vga) has the little finger screws to secure the cable where-as the hdmi doesn't, so it can just pop out, then again if the dvi or vga gets pulled you dan break the part of the motherboard or gfx card, so that is a either or situation too.

and the something else is most likely the s or d-sub or video or something like that, the little circle one similar to a ps/2 connector.

my favorite is when your cat or dog are screwing around in the back and get tangled up and do like you said, get snagged and break the GPU or even take your desktop for a ride and scratch it up!

Damn animals!

lol do agree, love the finger screws :)

never had that problem, our comps are all on tables against walls and not even our kitten can fit in there, which is about the only place in the house she hasn't gone, my comp's the only place my pets could but dore is always shut.

That "something else" is probably a displayport connection.

Don't be fooled by this nonsense of HDMI cables either. It's a digital signal - meaning it either works, or it doesn't. Of course you do want a decent quality cable physically, as in it won't fall apart or break on you.

dvi is also digital, vga is the only analog i know of, since those 3 are the only i know anything about really.

I love digital signals :) best thing since sliced bread

just go to google images and put in display port, mini display port, and might be s-video i think, or possibly d-sub maybe, but googled that'n and says stuff about vga like it is one or something, the links confused me a little and don't wanna read a ton since it's 1:20am and i get up a 6:30 for school
