Question about ram for laptop

I am going to be purchasing a laptop in a day or 2 and I was trying to figure out all the upgrades I should get. One thing I am unsure of is the difference betweem ram speeds. The computer I am buying can use 800 (pc2 6400) ram. How much of a difference is there between 667 and 800? I will either get 4 Gb of 667 or 2 Gb of 800. The laptop will be running vista ultimate and it will have the following specs:

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7700 (2.4GHz, 4MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB)
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2600 with 256MB GDDR2 discrete memory
+ up to 255MB allocated shared graphics memory using ATI HyperMemory™ technology
(2) 160GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA)

If someone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you know specifically what speed RAM the laptop uses? It seems most of what I've found uses DDR667. So even if you do get DDR800, it really won't help you any as the motherboard may be limited to DDR667...

They are retards if they said that. my q6600 quad is at 2.6ghz at 1150 MHZ FSB. My board only accepts 800mhz.

Its what the board accepts, not the processor speed

Yeah, board/chipset is what allow's different bus speeds. If the chipset can only handle 667MHz, than that's all you get regardless of the processor's bus speed...

Going with 7200 RPM drives would do more for you then going with 800 MHz. RAM. Can you get 7200's? btw... what brand is the laptop your getting?
